My Ethics Code: who I am and what I stand for

Through my life experiences, staying informed though media, and extensive self-exploration, I have come up with six core ethics that guide my decisions and life-choices. I am not afraid to do what is right even when it is the more difficult thing to do. Under each value is a "why" I have listed it. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask, I love to talk about why I believe in the things I do.

Empathy

Having an awareness of the everyday human experience and trying to put myself in someone else's shoes is very easy for me. I try to understand other perspectives and learn about other's experiences to expand my worldview. I feel deeply and I am not afraid to show it.

Work Ethic

I pour myself into my work, making it the best it can be. Work ethic determines success in my opinion. Although it is not the one defining thing related to success, it is a driving factor in getting where I want to be. I am willing to put in the work, learn new things, ask for help, and start small to become successful.

Respect

I respect others even if we have different ideas. I have no right to determine if someone else's experience is valid.

Knowledge

I understand that I am always learning, and that I will continue to seek new knowledge even after my formal education concludes. Truth-based knowledge is how I determine my stances and understanding of media and current issues.

Equity

I recognize my privilege and I will use that to actively amplify marginalized voices. I also see that women in media often do not see the same amount of recognition and success that men do, and I will continue to advocate for myself.

Excellence

I will put my best effort in to any task I am given, no matter how small.

Growing up my mom always said, "do your best for today." Every day I do my best to the capacity that I can.
