Experience: where I've been and what I've done
College of Engineering
Summer of 2021, I started as the communications intern for the college of engineering here at Iowa State. In my role, I write stories for the news pages that are featured on social media and newsletters distributed to the public. I also create graphics and put together campaigns for events and awards. This internship has helped me find my writing voice while improving my technical writing skills and AP Style, supplemented my creative thinking skills while adhering to branding guidelines, and built my confidence in pitching my own ideas to supervisors and coworkers. Originally this position was supposed to be just a summer internship, but my supervisor decided to keep me on staff until my graduation in May of 2022.

Malum Terminus Technologies Inc.
Summer of 2020, I secured a marketing internship for the IntelliSee branch of Malum Terminus Technologies. The team I was working on consisted of highly skilled engineers and the CEO. It was my job to understand the market and present it to the engineers in a way technical minds will understand. For example, I completed a market research project on all up-and-coming competitors related to our artificial intelligence security system. I also wrote and recorded their phone tree and had a part in writing copy for the website. Sitting in on team and board meetings gave me insight into how start-ups function and grow. This position taught me a lot about artificial intelligence security technology, the importance of market research, compiling information, and writing copy.
Alpha Chi Omega
I was elected the Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing from 2019-2020. Running the social medias, communications, and monitering media for a large university sorority in a global pandemic was a challenge. I used media plans and rules to manage our members and uphold the strong reputation of our chapter. The main focus of my term was increasing interaction, because interaction creates buzz that shows up on potential new member's radar. My term taught me how to earn attention and respect, and how to delegate tasks for the best success.
Fresh Mediterranean Express
I worked for Fresh Mediterranean Express for over 5 years, and have been involved in growing the local restaurant into a family staple. I've attained skills in customer service and Mediterranean food, which has come to be very useful outside of selling hummus.
Protein 2o
In spring of 2019 I started working for an outreach program within a protein water company trying to improve their social media presence. A team and I reach out to different kinds of active instagram accounts that have over 1,000 followers and provide information on our products. My section is Crossfit, and I provide coupons and free samples in exchange for posts about our product on their pages.
